CQC may arrange a visit to inspect registered providers at any time and the frequency of inspections will vary. Before the inspection you will be asked to provide information to the inspector, usually incorporating summaries of complaints and adverse events, evidence of how you monitor quality, including surveys and staff recruitment and training policies. The inspector will arrange a call to introduce themselves and explain the agenda for the day. Preparation is vital; the inspection is your opportunity to celebrate all the good work you do the inspectors will be keen to hear about it. Also be open and realistic about any challenges you have faced.
The inspectors will want to speak with your staff; we offer a training session where staff are put through mock interviews so that the real thing will not come as too much of a surprise.
